Older lady got storsvindlende woman caught

the Court in Lyngby, denmark (Ekstra Bladet): the Police can thank an older woman from Zealand, to the in the summer could arrest the fraudster Marie Madeleine Steen.

It came on Wednesday up in court, where the older woman even told about his unusual meeting with the Norwegian woman, who now is charged with 22 bedrageriforhold and two thefts. Ten of the circumstances, she has admitted.

Marie Madeleine Steen had approached the witness at Holte Station and told that she was sick of cancer, and that her purse and keys lay in his son's car, but he was driven back to Norway.

She explained repeatedly that she had no place to sleep, and that she might buy a ticket for a HT bus, where she could sit over night. Otherwise she would maybe sleep on the beach, even though it would not be safe for an elderly woman, explained to the witness in a soft and careful voice.

the Witness told further that at last she lent defendants money for an overnight stay at the hotel and a further 1000 crowns; and a total of 1600. She did not think that the stranger should sleep on the street.

I had not really very pity with her, but on the other hand, I felt obliged to help her, the more we talked.

The two women agreed to meet the day after, so the witness could get the money back, but when she came home, she got a bad feeling in the stomach.

- I began to think: 'I Wonder who it is, as I have given the money to'. I thought proper also, that it was strange that her son had left his kræftsyge mother at a station, explained the woman to the court.

On the web she saw that there was a known scammer, and then went to a larger detective work in time.

I called down to the hotel, as she had said she would sleep on. But they had had no guests of that name. So I was worried, but thought that perhaps she had chosen to stay in Vedbæk, which she had talked so much about in the past.

the Witness jumped up on his bike and drove down towards the Hotel Marina In Vedbæk. Here, the informed staff, that indeed there was a guest with that name. She called the police, but they wouldn't do anything, so she decided to wait until the next morning and then run back and wait until the Norwegian woman checked out.

As the thought, so done.

It was early in the morning, as I stood outside the hotel waiting for her. And there she came with two big rullekufferter and so much astonished, when she saw me. She had probably not expected that I would stand there, as it was not the hotel, for which she had agreed with me, explained the witness.

I told her not that I knew that she was a scammer, but just said that I would have my money back as agreed.

the Defendants returned the 600 dollars back to the witness and said that she had not more. But the witness was stubborn.

- I had lent her 1600 dollars, so I would know that she really had no more money back. So I asked her to check her bags in front of me.

The Norwegian woman began to walk away towards the beach.

She said her son would pick her up. But for that, I just said, 'You have no son'. So she was angry at me, and began to say, 'You are sick', explaining to the witness that followed, while she called the police up.

They came soon after and arrested her, but I got all my money.

Not a single time looked Marie Madeleine Steen up – neither on the older woman or the other 21 witnesses, who have taken the explanation. All the way through the two days in court, she has been sitting with his eyes down, like she even has refused to provide explanation.

There is expected to be judged in the morning.
