In september went to Michael Johnson, four-time olympic spurtkampioen and eight-fold world champion, the light for a bit. He got a small stroke, with limited mobility and impaired coordination on the left side of his body as a result. The man had 15 minutes to 200m walking, a distance that he, as a sprinter 19.32 seconds.
Four months and many hours of rehabilitation later, says Johnson, that he is back at his old regime. He runs, he cycles, he accepts - just as he did in the past. With the only difference being that Johnson now realizes that a healthy way of life, no guarantees means: “of Course it makes me a little scared because before the stroke I did everything what was good for me and now I do again what is good for me. And yet, it may me befall. Why I am a stroke was given, that we will probably never know. I need to learn to accept it. If I knew what the cause was, and then I there might be able to do. I was now more at ease but unfortunately I don't have that luxury.” (read on below)
