"After the overwhelming success at the last world CHAMPIONSHIPS in Doha, culminating in a world championship for Nina Derwael on the bridge, and a handsome fourth place all-round when on the bar, we want the world cup back to Flanders," says Muyters. "Gymnastics is with nearly 130,000 members, is a very popular sport in Flanders, in which we topsportvlak currently do very well. Then you need a strong federation to be able to the highest league in the world to attract and our Flemish athletes the opportunity to shine for the hometown audience."
Gymnastiekfederatie Flanders prefer just like in the previous world CHAMPIONSHIPS Antwerp as a location. "In addition to the wedstrijdaccommodatie with a minimum of 6.000 publiekszitplaatsen you have a opwarmingshal need, many of organisatieruimten and high-quality facilities for the press and the invitees. This is organisationally and financially for us as a federation only achievable in the Sportpaleis in combination with the Lotto Arena," says general manager, Lode Grossen. "This is an accommodation that we also very well know by our annual Gymgala and the organization of top events including the world CHAMPIONSHIPS acrobatic gymnastics this year and the last world CHAMPIONSHIPS of artistic gymnastics in 2013.”
