The two competing companies Clear Channel Danmark A/S and AFA JCDecaux A/S has been reported to SØIK, also known as the fraud squad.
this was stated by The Danish Competition and Consumer authority in a press release.
The two companies sell both advertising space in the so-called outdoor media (such as bus stops), and according to the agency, they have agreed, what discounts they provide.
- To agree the discounts are just as harmful and illegal as that agreement rates. Agreements on similar discounts means that the parties to the agreement are not competing to provide their customers the best discounts. In the case of the illegal behavior has been going on for many years, and it may have damaged the media agencies and advertisers, who buy advertising space in outdoor media, says Christian Schultz, president of the Competition council, in a press release.
Konkurrencerrådet have thus settled that the two companies have acted in breach of the law, and the companies have therefore been ordered to stop the illegal behavior.
It is also the Competition board, which decided to report the matter to the fraud squad. It will, however, be done until after any appeal is settled.
The two companies have according to the Danish Competition and Consumer authority in 2010, the 'agreed common rabatsatser for medieprovision, collateral and informationsgodtgørelse', and the rates have been applied up to at least 21. april 2015.
in Addition, they have between 14. October 2009 and 31. december 2010 agreed on a common cash discount.
According to the agency, there is an annual turnover in the sale of advertising space in outdoor media at 405 million dollars.
