Very unusual: the orcas kill the largest animal on our planet
Animals A film crew last weekend to record how dozens of orcas working together to a blue whale to kill off the coast of Bremer Bay in Western Australia. Although several times already, on image is captured how blue whales are attacked by orca whales, is still only the third time that a deadly attack is documented.

Blue whales are the largest animals on earth and are on average 25 feet long. For comparison: male adult orcas are about 8 feet, females around 6 metres.

The mature blue whales have normally no natural enemy, but the younger ones are often attacked by orcas. Still, they succeed mostly in order to make weapons to the " killer whales’. In this case, it would be to a young adult animal. According to scientists take the orcas a great risk by an attack on a blue whale, because it is very well able to defend thanks to their strong tail. So it is not an easy prey to to pursue.

Biologist Pia Markovic, that the event has followed from a boat, says that the orcas have taken to the animal to kill it. “We have first a long chase seen, then a very quick death and then a long lunch”. About 50 to 60 orcas have enjoyed the meal.
