So communicate with the api. Revealed over 1,500 unique movements
the LONDON - A, ten, thousand "dance" different to talk to each other. A team of scientists at the University of Minnesota has catalogued more than 1,500 unique movements used by bees to communicate. The list, published in the journal Plos One, was compiled as part of a larger study on how land managers might prepare the natural habitats to be more hospitable to bees, whose populations seem to be less numerous in recent years. The team, led by Morgan Carr-Markell of the University of Minnesota, has brought two great colonies of bees in two different sites in Minnesota.

initial Purpose of the research was to determine how the api reagissero to different sources of pollen. "We have noticed unusual behaviour, of the 'dances' that were made when the group of bees was in training out of the hive," says Carr-Markell. "These movements were used to communicate specific information, such as where and when to turn, directions of flight, or the distance from the pollen source and the nearest, as well as the 'quality' of the pollen", adds the researcher, explaining that his team has catalogued 1.528 different movements, highlighting a system of communication, complex and nuanced.

"I Believe that communication is one of the most interesting aspects about the api, we wanted to be able to use this information to help the managers interested in the welfare of the bees", again, Carr-Markell. "Our research also showed that the plants with the pollen considered to be more valuable for insects were the native ones of the prairies, and not imported products, which were considered secondary objectives. Our results therefore suggest that the inclusion of certain forms of plant life local in certain areas may increase the possibility that the colonies of honey bees from using these areas as food sources for honey production", conclude the researchers.
