How is the exam that more than 6,500 applicants to practice as a lawyer face today

A total of 6,731 aspiring lawyers are summoned today, Thursday, to the professional evaluation test, which is mandatory so that they can hang up their robes and start practicing.

As reported by the Ministry of Justice, the test will be held electronically and is the one corresponding to 2022. The exam is focused on verifying that the applicants have sufficient practical training and are duly aware of the ethical and professional standards.

This is established by Law 34/2006 of October 30, which regulates access to the legal professions and contemplates this evaluation as a requirement, prior to exercising both professions.

The test will be developed telematically, simultaneously, through the AvEX platform of the National University of Distance Education (UNED). The platform was already tested on June 14, through a 'mock' test that simulated the real times of the exam. In addition, for the next two days, the platform remained open so that the applicants could familiarize themselves with it.

It was also previously available, on the Justice website, the evaluation test manual with the necessary requirements and instructions for access to the UNED AvEX platform, as well as for taking the exam and the necessary technical help.

In this test, the 6,731 candidates have requested to take the exam in four different languages: Spanish, Catalan, Galician and Valencian. The people who have requested some type of adaptation due to different capacities have been 18.

It consists of an objective test of theoretical-practical content with multiple answers, in which it will be necessary to answer a total of 75 questions, divided into two parts. The first part consists of 50 questions related to common subjects related to professional ethics, organization and exercise of the profession. The second part will have 25 questions about specific matters in the civil and commercial fields; penal; administrative and contentious-administrative; and labor.

This Friday, June 24, the template of the questions with the provisional answers will be available on the UNED platform, which will also be made public on the website of the Ministry of Justice. Likewise, the Ministry of Justice will inform, through its website and the usual channels, of the results of the test.
