Over 15 months following the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, the U.S. army 's top officer claims that the signs of its source stays"inconclusive" but states that a"cover-up," from the Chinese authorities is not helping locate the solution.
"My view has not changed, since I have not seen any distinct signs," Milley said. "What I stated a year ago, it is still true now. It is inconclusive, we do not know."
Milley claims the main reason the world still does not understand the origin of this coronavirus is due to the Chinese communist authorities.
"After this virus began appearing, there has seemingly been a reasonable quantity of action or cover-up or absence of transparency, likely the best way to place this, and all that is bothering. So we must reach the base of it. That is clear."
Milley added,"I believe the president is just right, we will need to reach the base of it"
Earlier Wednesday, President Biden stated U.S. brains were weighing two potential situations -- which the virus leapt to some human in contact with an infected animal or it unintentionally leaked from a lab in Wuhan, China.
Nicholas Wade, a former staff writer for the New York Times science department, said earlier this month that the World Health Organization commission delivered to China from February to look into the origins of this virus had been"heavily regulated" from the Chinese authorities.
Wade doubts that the pandemic spread obviously.
"What became apparent was that the Chinese had no evidence to offer you the commission in support of this organic development concept," Wade stated.
However, Wade admits,"Neither the pure development nor the laboratory escape theory may nevertheless be ruled out. There's still no direct proof for either. So no definitive decision could be reached."
As per a fact sheet issued from the State Department five days prior to Biden's inauguration,"The U.S. government has reason to think that many researchers within the [Wuhan Institute of Virology] became ill in fall 2019, until the first recognized case of this outbreak, together with symptoms consistent with COVID-19 and frequent seasonal disorders."
The U.S. claims this announcement was created out of declassified intelligence reports at the conclusion of this Trump administration.
Milley claims the origin of this virus has to be found.
"We will need to understand as a country," he explained. "We will need to understand as a planet, since the scale and range of the pandemic was tremendous. It is huge."
"The failure to receive our inspectors on the ground in these early months will constantly hamper any investigation to the source of COVID-19," Biden said Wednesday.
"Right now we're in a fantastic energy competition with China and Russia. And we must keep it at rivalry and steer clear of great power battle," he added.
