the Appointment is meeting with criticism from members of the council. Görel Granström is an associate professor at the department of law at Umeå University and conducts research on victims ' rights.

She thinks that the appointment is inappropriate.

"I see it as problematic for the fund's legitimacy, as we sit and assesses applications for research funding that often includes violence in close relationships and men's violence against women," says Görel Granström.

director-general Annika East – who is also the chairman of the council – said that she had knowledge of the judgment just recently.

" It is clear that this is both serious and unfortunate.
