On september 25, lightens the Meir from the earth, thus becoming the first Swedish woman in space. The journey carries to the international space station (ISS) where she shall stay until the next spring.

"I have tried to find the time to celebrate a little bit, but we are busy with the job," says Jessica Meir in a video from the u.s. space agency Nasa.

the 41-year-old has Swedish and american citizenship and has studied at Stockholm university. She becomes the second Swedish citizen in space after Christer Fuglesang, who travelled to the ISS in 2006.
