Pensioner-couple found the loophole in the lottery: Won the 170 million

Jerry and Marge Selbee met already each other as teenagers. The couple lived a quiet life in the small town of Evart, in the state of Michigan in the UNITED states, where they jointly operated a kiosk throughout their lives and together had six children.

The couple won then of only eight years total of 170 million dollars at the legally to milk the two different heads of state lotteries for millions of dollars.

- I read the lottery-the ad and thought little of it, and in the course of three minutes I had found the loophole in the lottery, tells Jerry Selbee to '60 minutes', which presented the story in their tv program last Sunday.

In the 'Winfall-the lottery', however, there is a rule that says that if the 'jackpot'amount has reached to 32 million dollars, and no one has hit the right numbers, so are the winnings distributed down to five right, four right, and three right. And it means that this week there will be many more winners who win the smaller prizes. Winfall-the lottery called the phenomenon of a so-called 'rolldown'.

It may sound to some a little complicated, but Jerry is the mathematical child's play. He explains his scam as follows:

- If I played at 1,100 dollars, I would out from mathematical calculation, you have a single four-real-winner to a value of 1000 dollars. I divided the 1,100 dollars with six instead of 57, because I made a mental quick cheeky calculation and came to the figure 18. So I knew that I would have 18 or 19 three-right winners for 50 dollars apiece. And it gives total of 900 dollars. So if I invested the 1,100 dollars, I would get paid 1.900. A profit of 800 dollars, tells Jerry to '60 Minutes'.

the Next time, that was announced a so-called 'rolldown', invested Jerry first without his wife's knowledge 3.600 dollars in the lottery and won 6.300 dolars. The next time in mind, he invested 8,000 dollars and the expansion almost doubled the amount. Now he had become security for his brilliant idea and told his wife Marge about his lottery games. And she was immediately on the idea, and went actively into the matrimonial new scam.

Jerry and Marge quickly began to increase their investment in the 'Michigan state lottery Winfall', and played often for several hundred thousand dollars at a time when there was a 'rolldown'. Jerry started a company by the name of 'G. S. Investment Strategies'. At one time invested the 515.000 dollars in a 'rolldown', equivalent to approx. 3.3 million Danish kroner and got 5.5 million return. It lasts for a gain of 2.2 million dollars in a single week. A profit of approx. The 60 percent.

Family and close friends were invited into the company, which at one time consisted of 25 members. And that was bought more and more lottery tickets every time there was a 'rolldown'. Millionerne rolled in. But in 2005 closed 'Michigan Lottery Winfall' down suddenly. And they reasoned ironically, the decommissioning with the lack of sales of lottery coupons.

Jerry and his company 'G. S Investmest Strategies' found, however, fast new pastures. In the state of Massachusetts there was a similar lottery by the name of 'Cash Winfall', as the couple now began to milk legally.

Jerry and Marge drove 1450 miles in the car, to the state of Massachusettes to buy lottery tickets, each time there was announced a 'rolldown'. They did a total of 6 years, until the newspaper the Boston Globe suddenly presented an in-depth article, which revealed that at certain times and in certain places was purchased unusually many lottery tickets in the 'Cash Winfall-the lottery'. And in the articles were Jerry and Marge Selbee mentioned as some of the big players.

Then closed the state's Cash Winfall lottery' down and started an investigation of the case led by inspector Greg Sullivan.

- We worked out from theories about corruption and organised crime. So I was really surprised when we finally found out that it was about a mathematical genius, who had invented a method to win over the state lottery in a legal way, telling Greg Sullivan to '60 Minutes'.

Through the eight years of milking the Jerry and Marge and their company, the two heads of state lotteries for a total of 170 million dollars. The couple scored a personal all 52 million. Jerry and Marge used the money to renovate their house as well as to help their six children, their 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. They have among other things paid for all of the children's education.

But the old married couples still have the desire to figure it out. Now play the poker a few times a week. However, only about peanuts.
