From the petrol station to energistasjon

There is an extensive reorganisation of the Norwegian bensinstasjonsnæringen. consumer products companies play an important role in the government's work to achieve reduced greenhouse gas emissions. The development of sustainable business models, increased focus on reuse and conscious choice of climate-friendly suppliers are among the measures the companies within the trade to take in order to reach the government's goal of a low - and nullutslippssamfunn.

Bensinstasjonsnæringen form an important part of consumer products companies and has an annual turnover of close to 48 billion and consists of a nationwide dealer network with over 1800 retail outlets. When we know that transport is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in Norway, and that road traffic is the main cause of transportutslipp, represents bensinstasjonsnæringen one of the industries with the largest indirect emission reduction potential:

• An obvious and necessary ambition to reduce emissions from road traffic will not realize without that, to a greater extent offer emission reduction fuel that contributes to klimakutt. It is difficult to see that there are other than bensinstasjonsnæringen that in the future will be household main provider of energy. Unlike the former, it is, however, essential that the energy contributes to the reduced – not increased emissions. Here is the industry well in time, and over time, the increased use of biofuels contribute to emission reductions.

Bensinstasjonsnæringens main competitive advantage is, and always has been, close to the location to which people traveled. This, in combination with the ongoing focus on expanded offerings of ladeinfrastruktur, is crucial to the success of converting an increased proportion of the current fleet of vehicles in more environmentally friendly vehicles.

Bensinstasjonsnæringen is undergoing a demanding restructuring related to the green shift. It is necessary with large investments in the development of new value chains and new infrastructure to offer consumers more environmentally friendly energy. At the same time is the transition from gas - to energistasjoner required if the greenhouse gas emissions from road traffic will down. We expect that the Storting also lays emphasis on this in its forthcoming review of the government's white paper on trade.
