After Alfrida pulled in over Roslagskusten in the beginning of January thousands of households to be without power for several days and some had to wait over three weeks before the electricity came back. The electricity companies have thereby violated the law which says that the power outage must be rectified within 24 hours.
"the Law is written so that we have to pay avbrottsersättning to our customers at different levels, depending on how long they had been disconnected," says Magnus Hall, ceo of Vattenfall, to SVT.
For any interruption that lasts longer than twelve hours, customers have the right to at least sek 1,000. Highest paid a payment of three annual fees, which can amount to 20.000-30.000 sek for a person that consumes a lot of electricity.
