The 73-year-old Lula sentenced to 12 years and 11 months in prison by a court in the city of Curitiba in southern Brazil. The judgment affirms that it is still a very popular social democrat, took bribes in the form of renovations of a house, in exchange for the state oil company Petrobras secured the public procurement.
Lula is serving a 12-year prison sentence for corruption, following a ruling in 2017 as he himself and the followers to him describes as politically motivated.
Lula was president of Brazil between 2003 and 2010, and he tried to participate in the presidential elections in autumn from the prison, but were intercepted by the country's valdomstol.
