The 2022 TCS New York City Marathon will be back at its full capacity for the first-time since 2019.

According to the New York Road Runners (NYRR), there will be 50,000 participants at the Nov. 6 event.

"Every year, runners come from all over the globe to New York City for the New York City Marathon," New York City Mayor Eric Adams stated in a statement. "This race is the best proof of New York's determination and unrelenting spirit, and we are proud that we will be back at our full capacity this year." November will see 50,000 runners compete in the race. This city is where champions are made.

The 2020 world's largest marathon was cancelled and the number of participants was reduced last autumn - the 50th anniversary of the event - because the COVID-19 pandemic.

The race set a new world record in 2019, with 53,627 runners finishing, compared to 25,010 finishers in 2021.

Within 48 hours of the race, all runners had to either show proof of vaccinationor a negative COVID-19 testing.

NYRR, the organization that runs the marathon, stated that this year's race will require all runners to have their vaccines up-to-date.

Some elements of entertainment that were once restricted to the five-borough course by organizers will be restored by the organizers.

Ted Metellus, New York City Marathon race director said, "Last year’s marathon served an uplifting, unifying moment for New York City’s recovery as well symbol of renewed inspiration, hope, and perseverance." "This November, we are thrilled to see runners from all over New York return to the race as we work together to bring you one of the most memorable days in New York."

NYRR will host an entry drawing in March.

You can also register through charities or fundraising that is associated with the marathon.
Participants in the 2020 race were offered the chance to re-enter the race in 2021, 2022, or 2023.
