There are reasons for the intensity of this emotion: McCurdy's mother was a terrible person. “My mother was a narcissist. She didn't want to admit problems to herself, no matter how destructive those problems were to our entire family.” What she ate, what roles she applied for, who she dated—everything was controlled by her mother.
