According to the FDA, more than 100 complaints have been received about Lucky Charms this year.
The FDA is committed to investigating all reports of potential adulteration of food products that could also cause illness or injury.
A number of hundred people also posted complaints on the food safety website iwaspoisoned.com about nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting following Lucky Charms.
General Mills Inc., a Minneapolis-based company that makes Lucky Charms and Cheerios, stated it is aware of the reports and takes them seriously. However, the company claimed that its own investigation did not uncover any evidence linking Lucky Charms to consumer illness.
General Mills stated that it encourages customers to directly communicate their concerns with the company.
