Stockholm international film festival has for several years been known to release more women filmmakers than most of the others. So even this year. And this year it took the women home almost all of the heavy prices.
Jasmine Mozzafaris ”Firecrackers”, about two young girls who dream to escape the dreary life on the countryside for a life in New York city, was named best film. And so won the Michaela Kurimsky the female skådespelarpriset.
Women also won the prizes for best director, debut, script and Stockholm Impact Award, where the prize money is the entire one million dollars. The money is Beatriz Seigner home to Brazil. Her film ”Los silencios” is about some people on a mysterious island in the middle of the Amazon river.
Swedish Danish Alba August , as seen in the cinema in the ”Young Astrid”, was named a Rising Star. Something you well may say she's been a good while at this point.
