These are the art-Highlights of the week

Frank, you found gutGundula Schulze Eldowy

In the summer of 1985 they met: the 60-year-old star photographer Robert Frank and the 31-year-old Gundula Schulze Eldowy. This was in East Berlin, where she lived at the time, and photos of GDR-made reality, the Stasi were the creeps. To him, however, liked them so well that he was her Mentor and long-time penpal. Now an exhibition of your photos (and also some of Frank) as well as excerpts from letters and diaries. A poetic piece of time and art history. (psz)

Many, many visage fascination with the face

faces? Are important to you. We don't know since "Face / Off", where Nicolas Cage and John Travolta exchanged in a highly disturbing kind of Faces. So a face is not in everyday use, finally, business card, mood barometer and source of other information. And when the exhibition "the fascination of a face" takes on this phenomenon, then it does, as it has become a Tradition in the Vögele Kultur Zentrum, three view society angles: scientifically, and artistically.

Sometimes these disciplines are also integrated, such as the British Tom Stayte. The developed Software, the Instagram and Twitter nonstop to Posts with the Hashtag "Selfie" scans and the photos via the printer directly to the Museum to spit out. Rooting is explicitly allowed, and celebrities are highly represented. Maybe Cage or Travolta? (psz)

Look anSpiegel

There is this recurring scene in scary movies, when a Person looks in a mirror. First you see your reflection, then the camera wanders a little further, and you realize with horror that there was still somebody. Or anything. The bare Horror.

This, so we want to estimate here is, it should be reason no. 371, why is the mirror of culture in a historical context, are interesting. Even the ancient Maya, Greeks and Egyptians were fascinated by the (then not so) bare surface, thanks to the possible what is actually impossible: to see itself. And to detect. Where we, from a purely physical phenomenon into a Metaphysical drift – what resonates the theme of reflection is always a piece of far.

The exhibition "mirror. The man in the reflection" want to know it now exactly and brings a lush 220 exhibits, which were flown in from museums around the globe. It is a question Philosophical, but also solid as the tools and the technology that it needs(e) to be a perfect reflective to produce the object.

by the Way: Selfies are not seen in the Museum in General, Yes so much to you. This time everything is different (or should I say mirror?). As a mirror of the Smartphone Era, you'll even get a Chapter of its own in the Show.

A stroke with follow frozen Gesture

in 1965, I once again much of the world: The United States and the Soviet Union to give full throttle with their space programs, Lyndon B. Johnson, noting that African-Americans the right to vote, in France, Charles de Gaulle is elected as President, the Beatles release "Help!".

And in the midst of all this hustle and bustle of the 42-year-old New painting York Pop Art pioneer Roy Lichtenstein his first "Brushstroke". Somehow fits to the Moment, to this gesture: simple and powerful, calm, and iconic at the same time. Thus, Lichty has cracks, and later on whole generations of rotation (namely, the question of how to keep the dynamic act of applying paint to a canvas fixed) – up to Gerhard Richter, who thus became the Superstar.

The exhibition "the Frozen Gesture" shows 16 painters, the en on the brush stroke as a design element setting(t). Including judge and Lichtenstein – a matter of honor. (psz)

Lichtenstein's "Brushstroke" is available as a painting, but also as a sculpture. Estate of Roy Lichtenstein / 2019, ProLitteris, Zurich

Rodrigo Hernández

The 36-year-old Lisbon doesn't care about the latest headlines, but is, rather, subscribed to the big questions here: What is love? Where do we come from, where are we going, and what we do, as long as we are here? On Such date, it delivers a small, artistic impetus. Further, each of the(r) itself must be thinking. (psz)
