The utopia lives in the Agglo

The Kunsthalle is a place that should be so, actually is Schlieren: "High-class art in the Agglomeration, in an outwardly run-down building that seems kind of utopian", says co-initiator Peter Lynen. Since 2017, it operates together with Ingrid Scherr and Martin Senn, the art space on the outskirts of the city. The Kunsthalle is part of the work community Zürcher Bildhauer (AZB), which has been around since the early 1980s.

at the Time, the AZB was founded to improve the working conditions of the local professional sculptor. Today, many Zurich-based art are Schlieren-generating among the members of the Association, including the Trio of Mickry 3, Isabelle war and the Kunsthalle-operator Lynen, Scherr, and Senn. But "as a dramatist, the art of staging works and communicate with each other, that a visual and content creates more value," explains Peter Lynen on the phone. He is in the middle of the construction of the new Look (see Box); the day before he was still in Berlin, the art to collect works of"", as he puts it.

The claim of the Kunsthalle is to bring established artists from Zurich and the near abroad to Schlieren. Lynen and Scherr are both German, Senn has long worked abroad. It was, above all, their good network in Europe, which make such a program possible. The Trio presented works by international Art luminaries as Joseph Beuys, Wolfgang Tillmans or John Baldessari.

As the gallery, the Kunsthalle streaks is not to be understood, however,. Sure, if someone is interested for a factory, not a sale in the way, says Lynen. "But, we have a Museum to claim." Anyway, you should let the name Kunsthalle don't be fooled: The art room is 40 m2.

It stands on the Site of a former Gasworks, the subject today, with its wood-waste, containers, and sculptures as a kind of art Allotment comes. Insignificant, the Trio does not seem to feel but because of it. "We are actively working with the city of Zurich's art scene," says Lynen.

That the Kunsthalle is Schlieren in the city centre, making the journey somewhat cumbersome. The competition is not if one is there, gross. If you want to see in Schlieren art, ends up with a large probability at the gasworks street. And that was also a Motivation, as Lynen, Scherr, and Senn, the space taken over: "it's A culture, it was not in streaks before, actually, that we wanted to change."
