The national audit office review of free admission to museums

– We want to examine whether the reform has fulfilled the objectives that the government thought of itself and how it is planned and carried out. We also want to see what this reform may impact on museums ' ability to perform their main mission, says auditor general Helena Lindberg to the Program.

One of the reasons why the review is happening now is that the national audit office received indications of negative consequences for museums.

– It will be a tight economy for a part of the museums to respond to this reform. This means, for example, increased costs in the form of security measures and cleaning, " says Lindberg.

if a deficit of sek 40 million and the museum's management to get an exception from the free admission reform.

Gratisentréerna introduced for the first time of the S-government 15 years ago. The reform was abolished by the alliance government in 2007 but was re-introduced ago of S and the MP 2016.
