The fiction is a Fake?

The Motto of the book could not be better. It comes from the novel "the Sleep walkers" by Dorothee Elmiger: "The writer said this evening that she was not a liar, never, and the audience laughed." The German scholar Thomas Strässle, known to a wide audience through his appearances at the Swiss "literature club", encircled with this quote the core of his Essays: in the literature, not only in politics, is invented, imagined, and a lie that the beams bend. Merely, and the fiction is significantly different from the Fake will be made to the invention as such; therefore, the audience must laugh at the "Sleep walkers", as you say, the author is not a liar. According to straessle it is, however, not in a moral sense.

The Essay "Fake and fiction. About the invention of the truth" examined on 90 entertaining pages, the border area between Fake and fiction and their relationship to the Fact. What is clear at first glance to separate, turns out to be more complicated. "Every Fake is a Form of fiction, or has at least a share of the Fictional. Conversely, this sentence is not true: Not every fiction is also a Form of Fake." This means that Fake does not want to be understood as a fact – fiction.

Real than the neighbor

However, this security proves just as a relative: With a note on the Poetics of Plato and Aristotle, Thomas Strässle highlights that seals want to be read as a factually verifiable stories, but it is quite as true in the sense of probably. This would not be the case, the reader would not identify with the described events – and the real purpose of the seal, the cleaning of empathy and Experience, the so-called catharsis, would not be possible. Also if you know as a reader or viewer that the story is invented, you must give the impression that it was a reality. In this respect, the fiction appear as fact, just as the Fake.

"It is one of the biggest Strengths of the literature that is able to generate the feeling of it going in you don't any I, but also my I – the I of or of that or of the reads. In this regard, a good Fake has learned a lot from the literature," writes Strässle. Thus, the boundaries between the reprehensible Fake and the noble fiction are blurred.

The wise Essay by Thomas Strässle, who teaches at the University of Zurich, literature, science, and the University of the arts in Bern, the TRANS-disciplinary Y Institute directs, leads us deep into difficult terrain: What is fact, Fake, and fiction, is increasingly unclear. So Madame may be to go for a lot of real, true and more true than the neighbor. And where one files a biography of a people, does not exist? The fictionalized fact is a Fake?

Hermann Burger spoke of the "loop sections between the Real and the Unreal": "I Never am happier than when I manage the Crazy, thanks to the fake research than really and the bare, for any annual out reality copied as to appear crazy."

True or false

and Even if it is in the Essay sometimes, as in all of the collateral, EDM story by Franz Kafka, so there are still handles to hold on to. "There are many forms of fiction, which make no claim as to apply, in fact, like the Fake always does." In contrast to fairy tales, parables or fables of the politically motivated Fake aims at the exploitation of the citizens. He not only knows what he wants; he also wants the others want it. The Fake serves the binary Code of true or false; there is nothing else and it can not give.

The literature, however, can be different, even contradictory interpretations: Even if you claim to tell a universal fate, the recipient will make their own interpretations. You read what you want and not what the author wants. This hermeneutic meaning of surplus features the fiction, but not the uniqueness-of-focus Fake (this is a important difference works out Strässle too little).

"Fake and fiction" will appear at the right time. On the one hand, populist politicians, who blithely in front of it lies, and different-thinking citizens in a chess holding are mostly to the charge to live in a bubble; on the other hand, liberal politicians have lost because of the usual twisting of the facts in any orientation.

In such difficult times, you have to hold, as does Steven Pinker in his new book, the enlightenment: to put things in the right light, there is no Alternative to reason. By focusing on the stronger Argument, it guarantees progress.

The book by Thomas Strässle, provides clarity: It introduces first the concepts of threat close to each other, only to separate them again from each other. Who wants to fight the Fake, the fiction.
