France is planning to launch an international competition on how the church should best be restored. And there are already plenty of different ideas, according to The Guardian.
A week after the fire suggested a French firm, a giant greenhouse on the roof. Others have come up with ideas to build a pyramid-shaped spire of crystal and stainless steel, a park or a terrace – or even a forest with a colored glasspira.
– We must not build up the identical, " says architect Alexandre Chassang who are behind the proposal for a glasspira.
But it does not stop there.
see a cross-shaped swimming pool covering the entire roof, surrounded by the statues of the twelve apostles, who escaped the fire because they were being restored.
”We propose a meditative general space: a spatial experience as a complement to the building with a view unparalleled of Paris, ” writes the stockholm-based architectural firm Ulf Mejergren Architects on their website.
and muraren Florian Renucci calls for caution. He believes that the church should be built up as it was before the fire.
– the Restoration of Notre-Dame should respect the technologies that existed during the era in which it was built, with respect for the overall gothic harmony derived from a combination of the people who built it and the materials they used, stone, wood, iron and glass, " he says.
