The american actor and singer, Jussie Smollett, who among other things is known from the tv series 'Empire', was on Tuesday subjected to a brutal assault, after he had landed in Chicago, where he was to participate in the filming of a new season of 'Empire'.

According to an official statement from the police in Chicago was 36-year-old Smollett accosted by two masked men when he visited a restaurant on the East Lower Water Street around two o'clock on the night of Tuesday.
the Men came supposedly with 'racist and homophobic' chants for him.Jussie Smollett was then assaulted and had poured an unknown 'chemical substance', says the police, it also says that Smollett during the attack got tied a rope about his neck.
Police say they are investigating the attack as a possible hate crime.
'Because of the serious allegations, we take the investigation very seriously, and we treat the matter as a possible hate crime', says the police in this opinion.
A few days before the attack was Jussie Smollett allegedly received a threatening letter at Fox Studios, which among other things was: 'you must die, your black pig'.
Jussie Smollett has previously told openly that he is homosexual, and he is an active voice in the LGBT community.

Smollett was on Tuesday discharged from the hospital again. How extensive his injuries are not yet known.
After the news of the attack on Smollett, it has fallen into with regards to the 36-year-old actor and singer on the social media.

GLAAD, an organization that supports the LGBT community, sending a greeting to Smollett.
'GLAAD has been in contact with Fox and Jussies team in the day to offer assistance and support to him. Jussie is a true champion for LGBTQ people and is loved in the environment and allies around the world', says in a statement.
