Pink promises invites tvåsamhetsnormen on a fling

back in October 2008, in the DN read about the show ”Pink promises”, the choreographer Malin Hellkvist Selléns the standard critical interpretation of the dansbandskultur. A solo performance in which the Norwegian dancer Marianne Kjaersund, adorned in lipstick, mustache and pink outfit, dancing in emotional sync with the songs by Lasse Stefanz, Thorleifs, and Mona G:s.

And now, eleven years later, she dances. In march, put ”Pink promises” up to two times at the Dance house.

– It had its premiere in 2008, then it was break in two or three years. But since then, it has played, most in Norway lately. Later it was played in Stockholm was probably 2013, so it was many years since we were here, " says Hellkvist Sellén.

– the Work turns and twists of perspective and plays with norms and stereotypes. Then it felt given that it would be a solo, because this led to means couples. The songs themselves are also so heterosexual stories, a tvåsamhetsnorm, so it was a step in to break up the ideas.

" Then it was more choreographically interesting to do so than a wooden pardansen, which already exist in their own form. I wanted to do something different than what already exists.

" One of my interests overall, and that shows up in all of my work, is that I often take phenomena that are marginalised, where or not considered intellectually viable. And this led has received a stamp, which was interesting to get beyond; to completely without irony, to take the music and the content of the text seriously.

– Often do people think it is banal texts, to the just about love, but it is the very music that makes. But I'm always interested in points of contact, such as feels generational and can relate to. And since it is the largest publikfavoriten of my performances so I think there is something that really strikes a chord in us.

" It was difficult, I really gave me wholeheartedly in this led. Of course, there is so much. But the idea was to find songs where the lyrics, music and mood spoke the language of what we wanted to express with this work.
