the Winter and this spring's major musical at The new Theatre, 'Dance of the Vampires' was coronalukket after a very short time - like everything else in Denmark - and it cost the old privatteater tremendously many millions of dollars in losses, informs the director Niels-Bo Valbro - without, however, would specify how big the two-digit milliontab is.

- I refuse to lay me down 'and die'. Our strategy is that we must produce ourselves out of the crisis, and I believe that the audience again need to come out to have fun, we get to september, the premiere of 'Oliver' which is a musical that is built upon the 'Oliver Twist'. I may as well get stomach ache over the fact that we don't yet know how many members of the audience, we can open up to. It can be expensive, but Valbro believe that it can also be expensive, if he does nothing does. It can be a choice between the plague and cholera.
We can be 1000 audiences in The new Theatre, but if I am only allowed to sell tickets to the 500, it can not run around. However, there is much to be done, and there are many unknowns. No one can predict the future, says Niels-Bo Valbro. Photo: Anthon Unger
Valbro believe that if he bet wrong, he can risk the whole business to ensure. But he may also, if he just chilled and nothing makes.
- The new Theatre was, like all the other closed 7. march. But up to the end of april we had the expenditure on the salaries of 150 employees. It was really a lot of money. In addition, the acquisition of the rights to the 'Dance of the Vampires'. If we for simplicity say that the setup cost ten million. kr. The repayable per. performance, so - again - for the sake of simplicity, we say that there was a scheduled 100 performances, which means that there alone for opsætningsomkostningerne should be added dkk 100,000. to the side pr. idea before rent, salaries, and everything else could be paid, so give it shown a pretty good picture of our losses, when we only managed to play a very short time.
But even before the definitive shutdown of the country marked the theatre, that the audience was concerned, to sit close in a theatre because of the increasing number of coronasmittede. And it went of course in addition to ticket sales before the 7. march was zero.

Such is the situation, and I will not hide the fact that it makes economic evil, but I hope that we see soon see the money from the assistance package, so that we can get partial compensation for salary and fixed costs. Unfortunately, we have seen that the desire for stimulus has been greater than the ability to screw them together, so they also fit to the theaters, but we can hope that the theater - although we will not be held harmless, can get enough help to keep us alive.
