The network Btin is composed only by the local authorities of the cities located on the borders of europe, as full members. Its purpose is to promote the collaboration and mutual support between the border towns and the islands to give voice to the institutions, decision-making national, european and international. It will focus on issues related to solidarity among cities and countries, to the common needs of the communities and local citizens, to more efficient ways of reception of migrants, collaboration to increase the shared responsibility of the european and of the member states, development cooperation, peace and dialogue between the local authorities.

This will include the networking and exchange of best practices, various activities of common policy at Eu and national level and communication activities shared that will increase the voices from the borders. Also will include educational approaches common to the local communities, addressed both to local citizens and to migrants. By 2020 the network will welcome new members, with the aim of strengthening the cooperation between the local authorities and their voice vis-à-vis national and european institutions.
