During ten hectic days in may descends the cannes festival as a giant, glam ostkupa over a square mile of the French riviera and shut out the outside world. It is all about the very latest in cinema. No one's talking about anything else. This year, it is also a little provocative how few of the selected titles – with some exceptions – that reflects what is happening outside the bubble. The climate crisis, the political polarization and the other's fatal questions shines largely by its absence.
