For a little over a year ago, the u.s. became the comedian Aziz Ansari accused of having attempted to pester to the sex of a woman. It was one of the most contentious cases of metoo because it was not an outright rape or years of sexual harassment, but about an event that was in the proverbial grey area.
Ansari for the first time publicly about the matter, on stage during a gig, and the fact is that the statement was relatively insightful: ”I have felt upset and humiliated and ashamed. But I hope that it was a step forward. If this has got not only me, but other men, to become more thoughtful, aware and keen for all to feel comfortable, is it any good.”
He has had a whole year to think about it – but that statement is just as nuanced as ever, the event suggests that it was right to include even the more multi-layered experience in metoorörelsen.
