Five books on the eleventh of september

in an uncanny way have prophesied about the two towers case, inter alia, in the novel ”Mao II” in 1991, tackles Don DeLillo the actual course of events in the ”Falling man”, where two survivors enter into a relationship. The title alludes to a performance artist in costume hangs upside down in the same position as the man in the famous picture from the World trade center – the man who jumps headlong to his death.

2006 (English translation 2007 by Örjan Sjögren)

This book of the reportageförfattaren Lawrence Wright follows the events that led up to the terrorattentatet on a personplan. He follows the individual terrorists, and particularly Osama bin Laden, but also some of the u.s. key players in kontraterrorismen. Islamics kvinnoskräck have much space. Pulitzer-winning 2007.

2005 (English translation in 2015 by Maria Ekman)

mcewan's novel is set during one day in London in 2003, when a huge protest march against the war in Iraq draws up through the streets. Despite the fact that ”Saturday” is not primarily about the attack on the World trade center, so is considered by many – even americans – to be the best literary portrayal of society and life afterwards.

2005 (English translation 2006 by Hans-Jacob Nilsson)

nine-year-old, lillgamla and wise Oskar's father, dies at the top of the World trade center's south tower. Oskar is deeply sad and forlorn, but he has a key that belonged to his dad. Now go around New York and meet other survivors, in search of the lock that the key belongs to.

The French journalist and activist Meyssans book may represent the countless conspiratorial, and the enigmatic lett pietr, theories surrounding 11 september. The title translates to ”The appalling fraud” and the claim is that the entire attack was orchestrated by the political hawks in the U.S. establishment to increase military appropriations and to påsikt abolish democracy.
