Carl Fredrik Reuterswärds unknown jewel in Malmö

The multi-talented, conceptual pioneer Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd should have earned a hefty retrospective after his death in 2016. The miniatyrutställning, which will be shown at Moderna museet in Malmö (t o m 5/5), and in the autumn, continue to Stockholm, is hardly an adequate surrogate, but gives a nice insight into his imagination.

in Addition to a series of late kritteckningar shown here the rarely exhibited ”Kilroysvit” that came into being during the nine-year-long ”vacation” Reuterswärd announced with a famous radannons in the international Herald Tribune in 1963.

This complex of works is carried out in two almost identical versions – one of which, illustrated here, is the other. It is the Swedish empire more unknown jewel: at once cryptic and wide open, philosophical, and political.

with the Kilroys guldhjärta in the centre, reminiscent of the altar in any alkemistisk rit, here is devoted to conjure this elusive character trait of all, no one and everyone.
