Africa, the teaching of its history as an instrument of growth for students and teachers
the ROME - Of Africa is often spoken of as if it were a Country and not a continent of 54 nations. The past and present history of Africa is closely linked to that of the rest of the world, but the narrative is one of the most stereotypical: Africa is the continent to be saved, is poor, poorly educated, hungry, unstable. Excluding the topic of immigration, Africa remains very visible in the media. It is often forgotten that this is the land of the first great civilizations, also because the media tend to reinforce in the collective imagination, including that of the afrodiasporico or afrodiscendente, a partial view of the continent, giving rise to preconceptions and stereotypes that consolidate an idea of a unilateral of the african problems, anticipating issues or african afrodiasporiche solutions that do not take into account socio-economic contexts and cultural environments.

The funding of the Agency for the Cooperation. This narrative began to be constructed more or less consciously already in the classroom, and it is for this reason that the Centre Elis, Africasfriends and the African Summer School in Italy have carried out the project “Sustainability and Interculturality: from theoretical concepts to the skills act”, co-financed by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (Aics). A project of the teaching of african history in schools, aimed at young students, and their teachers. In the last 14 months, this project has helped to strengthen the culture of the intercultural encounter in Italy, offering to the students of 30 institutions between the Lazio and the Veneto, a vision which is less folkloric and exotic Africa, and teachers with the tools and resources for addressing the issues related to this continent in the most efficient manner, showing the continental and intercontinental african history and diversifying the entries, involving intellectuals and african members of the diaspora. Everything will take place in Rome, in Via Vittorio Amedeo II° 14, from 17 to 21 hours.
