The results obtained are encouraging, considering also that the treatment has proven effective in 97.3% of cases.
The polymer used in the method Risug, however, is not a new discovery. Since it was designed by the Indian Institute of Technology, in the ’70s, researchers are trying to make it a product suited to a large-scale marketing and, therefore, suitable to the indian market, where 53.5% of couples used contraceptive methods, mostly of the permanent type. The figure, on the surface, it may seem quite unusual, especially considering that only 0.3% of men undergo sterilization (vasectomy) against 36% of women, but in reality it hides a social problem linked to the population control policies.
