The Boss Ladies will have more women in skurvognene

But it has the organization Boss Ladies set out to make. Since 2018, they have worked to break the outdated prejudices about women in the trades down, ensure better conditions in general, and strike a blow for female artisans at least as much as their male colleagues.

- We are facing an acute and massive lack of skilled labor in the future. Actually missing that over 17,000 skilled in just ten years, and it looks only to increase, and therefore it works aimlessly just to fish for talent in the half of the lake.

- So we must have the girls on the track, and one of the biggest obstacles is the many prejudices that prevail about women in traditional 'male jobs', so the ones we are working to do away with once and for all, says Nina Groes, director and founder of the Boss Ladies.

Nina Groes had been working with gender equality in more than 15 years, among others as director of Kvinfo, before she became the Boss Ladies. And particularly a fact was an eye-opener.

- the Number of women artisans has not evolved over the last 20 years, and when I discovered it, I was ashamed of my ignorance. Since then it has been both my motivation and driving force for the problem the community can not continue to be blind to, she says.

According to Nina Groes is female craftsmen, one of the occupation groups, which should put most ear to people's prejudices, and therefore it also requires a massive effort all the way around, if in the future we should see more girls in your job.

Why has the Boss Ladies also team up with the big players among others in the building, construction and installationsbrancherne, the municipalities and the trade unions.

Must we really create a noticeable change, we must face together. Prejudice flourishes everywhere, and why we need to sip them in the bud.

We go out and show the girls in elementary school, their parents and teachers, that there is also a space for women here, and so we must ensure that girls in the vocational schools and the companies get the best opportunities to show what they can, says the director of the Boss Ladies.

Change is coming as you know from the inside, and therefore it also requires an effort all the way around in the industry, if you in the future to see more women with the toolbox under his arm. On the long list of Boss Ladies' business partners are therefore also the Danish Construction association, and according to vice president Louise Pihl is the project needed:

- as little as one out of ten artisans are women, and it will be a long, tough but necessary move to get changed at the entrenched gender stereotypes, which, unfortunately, also still rubs off on the labour market.
