the Last time he saw his relatives before they were gassed to death in concentration camps.

Now raises the 94-year-old survivor Emerich Roth a cautionary finger.

"I see similarities between then and now," he says.

Emerich Roth grew up in a jewish family in Czechoslovakia.

In the beginning of 1944, the nazis in power in the area. Emerich was then 19 years old. The whole family and 42 relatives were deported to Auschwitz. Where executed his parents, three siblings, and about forty people from the family. Just Emerich, and one of the sisters came alive.

During the past 26 years, Emerich Roth been out and lectured on the Holocaust for thousands of young people in schools. He shows pictures of mass graves and emaciated bodies, and tells of the unimaginable atrocities that people were forced to.

the Purpose? To highlight how bad it can go – if we let hatred fester. And to get the Jetbahis young people to understand how important it is to not be passive.

How do you look at the situation in Sweden now?

– It is very, very disturbing. I see similarities between what I experienced earlier in my life and what I experience today. Therefore, I am more worried than most of the others. It happened in nazi germany happened not only that Hitler came to power – the breeding ground was in many generations. Hitler acted only as an inducing factor for the hatred that has been latent all the time.

was shocked on the street and began to talk

throughout The 45 years held Emerich Roth quiet about its history. But one day in the 90's, everything changed.

– It was a beautiful summer day, and I came walking along the street, Birger Jarlsgatan in Stockholm. Suddenly I heard the roar of loud voices from the sidewalk straight across: ”Sieg heil!”.

On the other side marched the young men with the raised up arm.

– I was shocked. But the one that touched me the strongest was that no one reacted. Then I understood that it was time to break the silence.

the School värstingar enlisted of the bunch

He feels that most young people of today have a lot of ignorance about what actually happened during the Second world war.

– Soon there are no survivors left who can tell. After my first lecture, in march 1992, in a school outside Stockholm, I was told ”we have never heard of”. I thought it to be just a school that was poorly briefed, but I got the same reaction in most of the schools I came to.

He thinks that we all must assume our responsibility and speak out against things we think are wrong.

– It is not when you shoot and kill people that we should start protest, it is when you bully and look down on those who are different than we, that we should have the courage to stand up to their defense.

What would you like to ask today's politicians?

– To invest wholeheartedly in the school. The school is the main place in the society, where sits our future. Unfortunately not enough to all parents to give their children the love they need. And the school is the only place where it is possible to compensate for much of it taken in the home.

What problems can be accessed through the school?

– By to help the youth who are doing poorly, the school's so-called ”värstingar”, while they remain in the school, and before the hatred is cemented, we can also achieve another very important goal: To stop the recruitment of young people in the danger zone to the destructive bunch. It will not be as easy for gängledarna to attract the weak, the youngsters, when they found the fellowship of leaves positive young people.

School värsting may not be a new Hitler, but he can cause people so much suffering and society is so great damage. And as long as our policy makers do not realize this we will get to spin around several times – everything will be repeated and become more and more difficult and more expensive to fix.

”We must protest in the past”

Why do you think that some become haters?

– It is often people who have had the misfortune to grow up in a home where they lacked the love, security and attention in the positive sense. It doesn't matter if it is a rich or poor home. The screams and scares us, that is to say the cry for help stuck on the wrong way. And as long as they understand that we do not understand so they will continue to find worse and worse things.

What are the finest qualities of another human being?

– That was a great listener. We have many good speakers, but not as many skilled listeners.

What is a hero for you?

– A man that uses his physical and mental strength to help others. Someone who is charitable. A hero is also someone who at the risk of his own life save another human being.

Is there any hero that meant extra much in your life?

– Raoul Wallenberg – he is our time's best role model. Imagine what he, as a single man could achieve with his moral courage. Nelson Mandela is another hero.

Love saved his life

In the beginning of the 70's met Emerich Roth the love of his life Kerstin during a concert. She stood by his side since then, and support him in the fight for a better world. It really the rays of heat between them.

Have you had a lot of love in your life?

– Yes! It is what has saved me during the time in the concentration camp – the love I got from home.

How can we make the world warmer?

– No one can help everyone, but everyone can help someone in their immediate environment, for it is where we must start. If our neighbours and many others had reacted and protested, which ite was impossible, so had the Holocaust never taken place. In other words: the Passivity and indifference is humanity's greatest enemy.

Emerich Roth think that the media bears a large part of the responsibility that the world looks the way it does today.

– We can never counteract the evil by constantly highlighting it in the way that the media makes. It only strengthens the evil man false confidence, and gives them some legitimacy for their actions.

– The best way to combat evil is to constantly highlight the good. We mostly have fantastic young people in our country, but if these are very little in the media.
