Matthew Perry: A look back in the ups-and-downs of This'Friends' Celebrity's life

Although he had been a famous figure in Hollywood, the celebrity, now 51, was also famous for fighting with chemical abuse throughout the summit of his celebrity so much so he's stated he does not have any memory of filming particular episodes of the hit sitcom.

But following stints in rehab and several years of effort, Perry was able to course-correct his entire life and discovered greater success on the little display.

Fledgling celebrity

Perry was created in Massachusetts in 1969 and raised in Canada with his mum until moving to Los Angeles along with his dad and becoming a celebrity.

He also appeared in several films together with larger stars like Christina Applegate at"Dance'Til Dawn," Gwyneth Paltrow at"Deadly Relations" and River Phoenix in"A Night in the Life Span of Jimmy Reardon."

After a couple of years working in television, Perry struck gold when he had been cast in Friends.

He performed with the superbly sarcastic Chandler Bing, one of six friends living in nyc. The series ran from 1994-2004 and got Perry an Emmy nomination.

Like his co-stars, Perry shot to superstardom immediately and his job on the series -- along with the popularity that came with it would help him land tasks for a long time to come.

The dependence

Having a degree of fame that has out-of-this-world came several issues for Perry.

In 2013, the celebrity explained his years on"Friends" were"really a very lonely time for me personally since I had been suffering from alcoholism," a Now .

Alcohol was not the only material that he had been abusing, possibly, since he became dependant on Vicodin following a Jet Ski accident in 1997, based on People.

After becoming hooked on tablets, the celebrity sought treatment in rehabilitation, but was just able"to remain sober for a short period."

Back in 2001, Perry had been"in fear of losing my entire life" and called his parents to request assistance. They place him in an undisclosed rehabilitation.

Through time, Perry had acquired a reputation for being a distressed celebrity -- he crashed his car to an empty home the exact same day that he checked from a two-week remain in a hospital -- but he has managed to clean up things since then.
