Laura Nieto Idiazabal is awarded the 'Kiss in Pandemic’ award

In collaboration with Cajamar, Circulo Rojo and Casco Historico, the Casco Historico Neighborhood Association will award the prizes in the 2nd "Kissing in Pandemic" Story Contest. The book will be presented at Casa de las Mariposas next Monday, July 4th at 8:00 pm. It includes texts from authors all over Spain. The conference will be led by Fernando Collado Rueda, a psychiatrist.

The jury has selected Laura Nieto Idiazabal as the winner of the first prize (Navarra); Miguel Angel Garcia Perez (Almeria), and Jose Manuel Bretones, a journalist and writer, for the second and third prizes.

Magdalena Cantero is the president of the Casco Historico’ Neighborhood Association. She explains that in May 2020, as the pandemic ravaged the world, and we became the protagonists in a dystopia we decided to start the Historic Quarter Neighborhood Association to do some good for the businesses, bars, and restaurants in our area that were forced to close because of their health. This put their livelihoods and lives in serious danger. This phrase is derived from her belief that literature and books are the best therapy to "go out" or "fly" even if you're confined at home. The first collection of stories entitled "Travel in times with coronavirus" was published. It featured more than 25 authors from across the country.

They continued the second edition Relatos in 2021, in which 17 authors participated under the title Kissing in a Pandemic'. The book will be presented on July 4. Magdalena Cantero says, "There were many ways to express, give, and receive kisses during a period when we had to keep social separation, like millions that have been lost forever because of a virus. That's why it seemed appropriate that they all be treasured in this edition of Relatos."

Next Monday, the prizes will be presented to the winners selected by a jury consisting of Miguel Carceles (delegate of IDEAL Almeria); Miguel Gallego (director of the University of Almeria's publishing house); Oscar Fabrega (writer); Alberto Cerezuela (director of Circulo Rojo) and Juana Rivera (vice president of the Neighborhood Association of the Historic District of Almeria).

The 'Casco Historicalo' Neighborhood Association, Circulo Rojo and Cajamar form a great alliance. "We intend to strengthen these partnerships with new editions and actions to promote reading, the love for books and culture," states Alberto Cerezuela CEO of Red Circle, Sergio Ruiz regional director of Cajamar Almeria and Magdalena Cantero.
