John Mayer, guitarist and singer of Dead & Company, will not be performing at the "Playing in the Sand Festival" because he tested positive for COVID-19 according to the verified Twitter account.

The tweet stated that @JohnMayer had tested positive for COVID-19 just before he left for Mexico. He will not be able to perform at the "Playing in the Sand” event in Riviera Cancun.

CNN reached out to Mayer representatives for comment.

The group is comprised of ex-Grateful Dead members Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann, along with Mayer and Jeff Chimenti.
