Cabo de Gata, a look between silences

This Saturday's exhibition will open with the presentation of El Silencio y el Cabo, a photographic work by Jose Victor Segura. The exhibition will feature unpublished photos by Jose Victor Segura, an Almeria-born photographer. Also included will be the presentation of the postcard collection with some images. The 20th anniversary celebrations of the hotel and the art room coincide with the exhibition. The author says that it is thrilling to be able "to return here twenty years later, when my first work was displayed in this space, and to do so with a series images that relate to this magical place that never ceases amazes."

Nature has been the best alternative to tension and uncertainty during the past year and a quarter. It is a pleasure to lose your gaze on the horizon and allow yourself to be hypnotized by the saltpeter smell, with the ocean as the only sound, that can help you think differently. Segura says that the most important thing is the photos, but the El silencio y el Cabo images are the result of that interaction with nature. The author adds that Silence>> also includes the reunion with old places and the discovery and contemplation at the less-known locations in our Park.

This exhibition is about a very abstract photographic work, which also makes use of the lack of color in the snaps as another way to express myself. "The language of black-and-white leads me to a deeper and more abstract understanding of the environment. The artist comments that almost all of the images were taken in square format. He is trying to find the balance and neutrality this ratio adds to the photograph. The Cape is never ending from a photographic perspective. You can find many different scenes within a very short time span. They are just as motivating as the camera.

Postcards are available for purchase at Almeria and Park establishments during the months July and August. This series is displayed in an exhibitor specifically designed for these photos. The collection will be refreshed with 12 cards featuring the same theme and technique between 2023 and 2024.

The event will take place outdoors, and Los Espontaneos will provide live music. The Hotel's Alacena Azul Restaurant will offer a selection of drinks and dishes during the evening.
