With Eurovision as inspiration import the UNITED states the format for the world's biggest singing competition under the name of 'The American Song Contest'.

According to Variety is the american variant of the party scheduled to debut around christmas time in 2021.
As the format looks right now, will participants from all 50 u.s. states meet first in the qualifying rounds, then the semifinals and finally in a big fest of a finale.
the Participants are going to fight for points from both a panel of judges and by a vote among viewers.
Among the architects on the project are among other things, Christer Björkman, who participated in Eurovision 1992, where he represented Sweden with the song 'tomorrow is another day'.
- the Eurovision has been a dream project for me, since I was a boy.
- To get the chance to make use of all the knowledge I have about the program, and to be allowed to create it from scratch and bring it to an audience that has no knowledge of the format, is a huge privilege, he says to Variety.
Also producer Ben Silverman, who has previously had success with importing fjernsynsprogrammerne 'The Office', the 'Big Brother' and 'The weakest link' to an american audience, are in the project.
He believes that an american version of the popular singing competition can help to bring together an otherwise divided and the UNITED states.
