The couple was this morning to wake up to the news of the attacks. “Then this morning I woke up, I got it as ‘breaking news’. Then I have the rest of the group – Dutch – informed. Since we follow the news on the foot on our cell phones,” says former teacher and photographer for this newspaper, Marc.
They currently reside in a hotel in Hikkaduwa, 90 kilometres from Colombo. The atmosphere is left. “None of us makes for the time being.” Initially, they could still go snorkelling, later in the day and was followed by a curfew. “The police just come and say that no one in the hotel from may. The gates of the hotel are closed, there are security guards. The supermarket here is closed.”
The group, noted that in the last days of tensions, and also was not in Colombo, unless to countries. “Tomorrow we shall be in all morning to the airport. Question is how we are going to get, because there is a curfew until 6 pm and we would have to be 4 hours have to leave.”
