250 festival-goers at Tomorrowland Winter evacuated due to bad weather

Festivals In the French ski resort of Alpe d'huez are today about 250 people were evacuated from a ski slope, and a corresponding bar, after the ski lifts around 13 hours were closed. That says, the organization of Tomorrowland Winter, the winter edition of the dance festival Tomorrowland that is currently taking place. Most of the revelers had with snow blowers down, and that took hours.

“There were four mountain huts where festival goers at the festivals were. These people were stuck there, because the ski lifts close. We now have all festival-goers down to retrieve it using Sata, the domain. They have large snowcats and thus have first the people without skis and then the people with skis down. Now come the artists and our crew down,” says spokeswoman Debby Wilmsen.

The festival begins tomorrow, only really start with a ‘welcome party’, and so keep the organization the situation closely in the eye. “Tomorrow is a new day,” says Wilmsen. “We see every hour how the situation is. For tomorrow they predict very good weather, sun even, and less snow, but for the same money blows in the morning for 15 hours of very hard and we still have to have the lifts close. For now, there is still, however, nothing has changed and everything goes through like planned.”

According to Wilmsen, there is no reason to panic. “We have to take it as it is. We will in any case be assisted by a weatherman, and in our event control center are both the police, the fire department as people from the ski resort itself. All people who are six months long in the mountains to work and who provide us with expertise and advice to assist. The most important is that our festival-goers, performers and staff safely back down to get to.”
