“I don’t care about prices”: Gilles Lellouche is not chasing a César

On the occasion of the theatrical release of the film Suddenly Alone by Thomas Bidegain, Wednesday December 6, Gilles Lellouche was the guest of Mouloud Achour in Clique, Tuesday on Canal. After presenting his new role alongside Mélanie Thierry, presenter Mouloud Achour asked the man who plays brigadier Grégory Cerva in BAC Nord: “Where are you going to get recognition?” Gilles Lellouche first responded: “in the eyes of the people I love”, before adding: “I don’t believe in the price”.

Gilles Lellouche has been nominated for a César seven times for his roles in Ma vie en l'air (2006), Les Petits Mouchoirs (2011), Le Sens de la fête (2018), Pupille (2019) and BAC Nord (2022) and for the direction and screenplay of Le Grand Bain (2019). But after almost 30 years of career in cinema, the actor, director and screenwriter has never won a trophy.

On the set of Clique, Gilles Lellouche evokes “a kind of lottery, very appreciable the day you are nominated. It’s super nice and then it stops there.” For him, “it’s a little bit ridiculous to imagine that there is a best actor, the one who is the best over the whole year.” Without hard feelings, the 51-year-old actor admits to never having gotten used to the rewards. “I didn’t really make the honor roll when I was in high school, I’m not used to awards. That doesn’t mean I spit on it, far from it, but I don’t really care,” he says.
