Depeche Mode ignites the Stade de France during the Memento Mori tour

The mythical British group Depeche Mode gave their third French concert of the Memento Mori tour at the Stade de France, thus marking a memorable stage in the history of musical formation. This tour has indeed a particular meaning since it is the first without the presence of Andrew Fletcher, founding member of the group, who died tragically in 2022.

Despite this absence, Dave Gahan and Martin Gore succeeded in transcending the public by surrounding themselves with Christian Eigner on drums and Peter Gordeno on keyboards and bass.

The concert, which lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes, was a veritable explosion of sounds and emotions, harmoniously blending the new tracks from the British group's fifteenth album with unmissable hits such as Feel You, Everything Counts and Wrong. From the first notes, Dave Gahan, still as charismatic, at 61, demonstrated that he remained a showman, with a deep and powerful voice. His swaying and his rotations on stage, arms outstretched, ignited the public for more than an hour.

Then Dave Gahan gives the stage to Martin Gore for two titles, Home and Soul With Me, where the latter takes the lead with his more discreet voice. This alternation brings additional diversity and richness to the stage performance.

Amidst all this energy, the emotion intensifies during the tribute to Andrew Fletcher, whose memory has been honored with the poignant title World in My Eyes. The remaining members of the group were thus able to express their affection and their gratitude towards their comrade who died too soon, creating a deep communion with the public.

As night falls, the refined scenography and the play of light take on their full extent, creating a bewitching atmosphere in front of an ecstatic audience. The concert ends with an irresistible encore, beginning with the essential title Waiting for the Night, where the founding members of the group showed a rare complicity by embracing on stage, thus captivating a conquered audience. Follow the mythical and highly anticipated Just Can't Get Enough, Never Let Me Down Again and the timeless Personal Jesus.

Exhausted but happy, Dave Gahan contemplated a conquered Stade de France once again. This evening will be remembered as a vibrant tribute to the musical heritage of Depeche Mode and as proof that the group continues to infuse unparalleled energy.
