Clean up “the incestuous family of cinema”: Judith Godrèche asks the Senate for a commission of inquiry into sexual violence

“In six months will you pretend you didn’t hear me? Are you going to take over our stories,” asks Judith Godrèche before submitting very concrete demands to the Senate women’s rights delegation. The actress notably requested Thursday, during her Senate hearing, the opening of a commission of inquiry into sexist and sexual violence in the cinema industry.

Judith Godrèche has become the leading figure in the fight against sexual violence against children since she filed a complaint, after decades of silence, against directors Benoît Jacquot and Jacques Doillon. She was interviewed on Thursday by the women's rights delegation at the Palais du Luxembourg.

Beyond the seventh art, she paid tribute to judge Édouard Durand, the former leader of Ciivise, this independent commission on incest and sexual violence against children, in the midst of a crisis, and pleaded to protect the children victims of sexual violence.

“This incestuous family of cinema is only the reflection of all these families” affected by this violence, declared Judith Godrèche before the senatorial delegation, specifying that she had received 4,500 testimonies from victims on an email address that she opened for this purpose. .

On cinema in particular, she “requested the establishment of a commission of inquiry into sexual and gender-based violence in the cinema sector” and also “the withdrawal” of her functions as president of the National Cinematography Center (CNC) by Dominique Boutonnat. Today, the producers go to this institution “while laughing because they say to themselves “It’s funny, I’m going to go and do training against sexual violence inside a building, an institution whose president is himself accused of sexual violence”. What is this joke ? », protested Judith Godrèche.

Dominique Boutonnat was implicated in a case, not yet judged, of alleged sexual assault on his 21-year-old godson. Charges that he disputes. He was reappointed despite this affair, to the great dismay of feminist associations.

Judith Godrèche also asked to “impose a neutral referent on filming with a minor, a referent who is not paid by the production, who is trained”, and “that a child is never left alone on a set ”, with “a more effective control system”. She would also like “an intimacy coach for scenes that involve” scenes of a sexual nature to be present on the film sets. “I ask you to help me ensure that gender-based violence stops in my community. “Let us stop pretending not to know,” demands the actress.
