American actor Richard Lewis died on Tuesday February 27 of a heart attack at the age of 76, several American media announced this Wednesday. He died “peacefully, at his residence in Los Angeles,” they said.

Known for having starred in the popular comedy series Curb your Enthusiasm (Larry and his navel, in French), the actor was also a comedian and made appearances on several television shows, such as The Tonight Show, broadcast on NBC, or the Late Show with David Letterman.

GQ magazine included him in its list of "the most influential comedians of the 20th century", and he was ranked 45th in the top 100 "best stand-up shows of all time", published in 2004 by Comedy Central. In 2023, Richard Lewis announced that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease two years earlier.
