Uber advances in its goal of becoming a tourism 'app': now it allows you to buy tickets

The company has chosen the Spanish capital to launch its Uber Explore service in Europe.

Uber continues to expand its catalog of services in Europe. The company that landed in Madrid eight years ago, not without controversy, as a VTC company (tourist vehicle with driver), has been growing in recent years expanding its business, from betting on home delivery of food, with the Uber Eats platform, even giving its users the possibility of booking taxis from the same application or electric scooters and bicycles.

Now, a couple of months after launching the service in the United States, Uber announces the landing in Europe of Uber Explore, specifically in Madrid. Within the company's chauffeur-driven travel booking application, users will be able to access Explore to check information on leisure and leisure activities, book restaurants and buy tickets to musicals, concerts, shows and experiences.

Likewise, Explore will work in a personalized way for each user, depending on their previous searches and reservations and will also become an option to access exclusive discounts on reservations for this type of leisure activity.

With the arrival of Uber Explore in Europe, and after the launch of Uber Travel in the United States and the United Kingdom (a solution that unifies all travel information in the same application), "we aspire to become the reference application for leisure and tourism in the more than 10,000 cities where we are present," says Anabel Díaz, general director of Uber in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Uber's steps in recent months to advance its goal of being an application focused on tourism in all its facets is advancing very quickly. After the launch of Travel in some markets, the company launched in February in Spain (at the moment only in Madrid) its Reserve service for trips originating at the Madrid-Barajas airport and Uber Black Hourly, a premium transportation service for hours for multi-stop commuting, running errands or even as a hop-on-hop-off for visitors to the Spanish capital.

Now, with Explore, the transport company seeks to establish itself as another option to discover and book shows and restaurants. This service was launched yesterday in the Spanish capital, but the various features of Uber Explore will be available gradually over the coming weeks.
