Sullivan stressed that the measure will increase the maritime presence of the US and NATO in all relevant maritime domains and that it is part of a series of announcements that the US will make tomorrow, Wednesday, at the summit.

The National Security Adviser explained that at the meeting several countries will report on their commitments to reinforce NATO's eastern flank and along these lines, the US will make "specific announcements" about sending additional land, sea and air forces, for as long as it lasts. the conflict in Ukraine.

Biden is scheduled to meet with Sánchez as soon as he arrives in Madrid this Tuesday, from Germany, where he has participated in the G7 summit.

The US already announced in March that the Rota naval base was ready to accommodate two more destroyer ships, in addition to the four that are currently there.
