The average price on the electricity exchange Nord Pool Spot was 45 öre/kWh in 2018, which is an increase of nearly 17 penny, or 60 per cent, compared with 2017.
– Hydro power is very cheap, and we usually have lower prices than on the continent. But in the years when we have not had as much water, the price has to a greater extent set by the fossil-based power generation in the world and therefore is tredubblingen of the price of emission allowances, a key reason for the higher price of electricity, " says Magnus Thorstensson.

– And when we do not have enough hydro power, which covers the demand, so you have to take expensive power utilized to cover the needs, " says Thorstensson.

But it depends on how the winter is shaping itself, it will be mild weather, so does it mean that we use less electricity, and that we get quite a lot of precipitation – which changes the conditions for the prices.
