Sweden are acting for disarmament and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons

The Swedish position regarding disarmament and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons is fixed. Any change has not occurred. Nuclear weapons are weapons of mass destruction whose consequences are extremely serious. The work against nuclear weapons will continue. Basic is our membership in the non-proliferation treaty NPT, to which Sweden acceded to the 1970. Now, when it is subjected to stress as the nuclear powers to develop new abilities and does not live up to the commitments on disarmament we are acting for disarmament and non-proliferation.

A visiting head of state is, under international law obliged to comply with the terms that Sweden imposes for the visit. This follows, inter alia, of the international legal principles of sovereignty. This was emphasized by the government in connection with the agreement on the värdlandsstöd with Nato was debated.
